Independent TD for Donegal, Thomas Pringle, has again called on Government to ensure Sligo University Hospital has the funding needed to roll out insulin pump services.
Addressing the Dáil, Deputy Pringle said: “I’ve raised this matter 3 times in the last 11 months, I’ve put down over two dozen questions in relation to different aspects of diabetes care in the Northwest Region, yet nothing changes.”
He raised the issue during Questions on Policy or Legislation.
The deputy asked: “Will your government ensure that funding is provided for a dedicated pump nurse in the adult diabetes services in Sligo immediately?”
In her response, Minister Mary Butler acknowledged that the deputy has raised the issue a number of times and said she would refer the matter on to Minister for Health, Stephen Donnelly.
