Pringle welcomes reopening of day services in Killybegs, Donegal town
- Updated: 10th March 2023
Independent TD for Donegal, Thomas Pringle, has welcomed confirmation that the Killybegs Day Hospital and the Donegal Hospital Day Centre will reopen in the coming weeks.
In response to representations from Deputy Pringle, the HSE confirmed that the Killybegs Day Hospital will reopen at the end of March in Killybegs Community Hospital, and that the Donegal Hospital Day Centre will reopen on April 3rd in Donegal Town Community Hospital.
Deputy Pringle said: “I know how important the service is to many users around the area.”
The deputy said that while the HSE said service users at the two community hospitals had been offered day care services in other locations, it wasn’t practical for a lot of people.
Deputy Pringle said: “For many older people it can be the only point of contact they have outside the home, and for carers it provides important respite, so it is vitally important that these services be restored.
“I hope lessons have been learned to ensure this does not happen again and I will follow the progress to see that there are no further delays,” he said.
