Pringle welcomes AIB decision to reverse cashless branch decision amid public backlash
- Updated: 22nd July 2022
I welcome the news this afternoon that AIB has reversed their decision to make numerous branches in rural communities ‘cashless’. This is a victory for people power, as Ministers told us repeatedly over the past few days that there would be no government intervention in the matter”
“Fianna Fail and Fine Gael washed their hands on this and left people high and dry, but the sustained efforts of ordinary people standing up for themselves has once again proven to be the answer”.
“My office has dealt with numerous calls, emails and face-to-face representations over the last few days about this issue, it shows what it means to people to have services in rural Ireland. Although, I do fear this is only a temporary reprieve as the bank is likely to try this move again once it has weathered this storm. We all must remain vigilant and stand together if it is put forward again. “
