Pringle urges Government to do more to assist the people of Palestine

Independent TD for Donegal, Thomas Pringle, has called on Government to do more to assist and stand up for the people of Palestine.
Addressing the Taoiseach today during Questions on Promised Legislation, Deputy Pringle said: “Last week we heard of the terrible murder of well-respected international journalist, Shireen Abu Aqleh. This was a deliberate and targeted murder by Israeli occupation forces which violated international law.
“We didn’t see the opening of borders or the allocation of accommodation for Palestinian people fleeing conflict. We didn’t see Israel excluded from the Eurovision, along with Russia, despite their war crimes. We didn’t see the same media outcry over the Israeli occupation forces’ shocking attack at Shireen’s funeral procession.
“This is not good enough. We need to do much more to assist and stand up for the people of Palestine who are suffering under Israeli occupation,” he said.
Deputy Pringle asked the Taoiseach: “Will you commit to treating all refugees fleeing war with the same compassion and will you at least urge the US government to end its $3.8 billion annual funding to the Israeli military and campaign against the EU support for the Israeli regime?”
