Deputy Pringle has today welcomed confirmation of an appointment of a second permanent consultant breast surgeon to LUH.
Speaking on the announcement Deputy Pringle said “it’s great news that a second permanent post has been confirmed. This will benefit hugely the women and men across Donegal and those on waiting lists across the North West. It will also go a great way towards the future preservation of breast cancer services at LUH.
“However the fight to get a permanent second breast surgeon has been unnecessarily long particularly for patients waiting to undergo treatment.
“Donegal Action for Cancer Care has done amazing work in keeping this on the agenda. More work is certainly needed to to ensure that future appointments are dealt with in a more efficient manner.
“I look forward to working with Donegal Action for Cancer Care and I look forward to hearing from LUH and the Minister directly on the progression of the new appointment and hope this is done in a timely manner” concludes Pringle.
